BCI’s Organizational Employment Program provides jobs for adults with disabilities in a supportive packaging and assembly environment. We have two locations, one in St. Peters in St. Charles County and another in Moscow Mills in Lincoln County.

To participate, individuals must have a disability confirmed through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and want to work. You can find the other requirements here: Organizational Employment.

Our facilities have several production lines and a variety of products. The noise level is usually moderate, and employees who are sensitive to sound can wear noise-canceling headphones.

Safety is our top priority. Employees receive regular training on workplace safety and other skills to help them succeed at work.

Employees do a variety of packaging and assembly jobs. Some jobs are self-paced, while others follow the speed of a conveyor line.

Common tasks include:

  • Packing and labeling products
  • Assembling and inspecting products
  • Stocking materials
  • Building display cases
  • Loading pallets
  • Using pallet jacks and light machinery

Each employee has an Employment Support Specialist (ESS) who helps them succeed at work. The ESS helps set work goals, teaches new skills and responsibilities, and provides support as employees learn and grow.

Production Supervisors also provide support and guidance on the work floor.

Production hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. This is a 29-hour workweek.

Full-time employees work five days a week. Part-time employees work at least three days a week. Employees must work at least 18 hours per week to qualify for benefits.

Employees are paid based on their individual productivity and the work they are able to complete. Under a Section 14(c) certificate from the U.S. Department of Labor, their productivity is regularly measured and reviewed, which can lead to changes in pay.

Hourly wages currently range from $2 to $12, with an average wage of $7.92 per hour.

Yes. Employees receive a paycheck every two weeks and can earn paid time off. They can also choose to enroll in BCI’s 403(b) retirement plan and vision, dental and life insurance benefits.

Yes. Employees have several opportunities to grow at BCI. They can move into our Advanced Worker program, which offers a 36.5-hour workweek and full benefits. They can also move into staff line worker roles or other positions within the organization.

If an employee’s goal is to work in the community, our Competitive Employment and Vocational Training teams can help them prepare for and make a smooth transition to a job outside of BCI.

Some employees use Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) waiver funding to help pay for transportation. Their case managers help arrange these services.

Other employees drive themselves, carpool, or pay for transportation. BCI does not provide transportation.
