In the early 1960’s,  John Loness and his brother Rusty  owned a machine shop.  Rusty specialized in tool and die while John concentrated on automated screw machining.  With the opportunity to expand the screw machine demand, in 1968, John and his wife Alfrieda started H & M Machine Service.  They both had nick names of Herman and Mable. Since everyone called them by these names, they made the decision to call the company H & M.

In 1971, after serving his country in the military, Gene (“Gus”) Loness joined his parents at H & M.  Gus learned the machine business along side his father John.

Up until the late 1980’s the business was individually owned by John.  After sudden growth of the business, John made the decision to incorporate the company.  He and Gus each owned fifty percent of the company.  From that point on they were business partners.

In 1991 John unexpectantly passed away, leaving Gus to run the business.  Gus continued to grow the business by purchasing more equipment and expanding the Customer base.  In 2015 Gus’s wife, Wendy Loness, became President and carried on with the foundation created by John and Gus.  In 2018, Gus’ daughters took over the company from Wendy.  Sandra Loness Cammarata became President and Michelle Loness Cook became Vice President.

Sandra and Michelle grew up watching and often working in the shop learning from their Grandfather and Father on what it takes to be successful in the machining industry.  They are honored to continue H & M’s family traditions by using their inherited excellent work ethic, attention to quality and superior Customer Service.

Since taking over the business, Sandra and Michelle have proudly achieved Certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) status with the Small Business Administration for H & M Machine Service! They have also maintained the ISO 9001:2015 Certification.

Being a leader in the screw machining industry for over 55 years, it made sense for H an M to take their capabilities to an even higher level. In 2020, H and M Machine Service expanded their portfolio by obtaining the ability to provide Swiss Machined Parts.
